VIDALIA, GA — Vidalia City Schools is proud to announce Erica Palmer as the district’s Teacher of the Year.

With 28 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Palmer currently serves as an English teacher at Vidalia High School, where her dedication, persistence, and commitment to student growth define her work each day.

As a reading intervention teacher, Palmer works with students who enter high school several grade levels behind in reading. Through targeted instruction and individualized support, she helps students strengthen the reading and academic skills they need to experience success in high school and beyond. She emphasizes effective annotation and note-taking strategies while working closely with the school’s intervention team to identify individual needs and develop appropriate support.

Palmer’s impact extends beyond her classroom. She served as a grade-level team leader last year, demonstrating the leadership and collaboration that have become hallmarks of her work with both students and colleagues.

Her positive attitude and tenacity are evident in everything she does. Palmer maximizes every minute with her students, maintains high expectations, and consistently communicates her belief that every student is capable of growth.

“Mrs. Palmer refuses to give up on students,” said Vidalia High School principal, Steve Freenor. “She believes in their ability to grow, and she is willing to do whatever it takes to help them get there.”

For 28 years, Erica Palmer has dedicated herself to helping students find success. As Vidalia City Schools Teacher of the Year, she represents the very best of that commitment.
