VIDALIA, GA — Vidalia High School is celebrating the hard work of its students and teachers after earning three recognitions for its Advanced Placement program based on last school year’s performance.
The Georgia Department of Education recognized Vidalia High School as both an AP Challenge School and an AP STEM School, while the College Board named VHS to the AP School Honor Roll at the Bronze Level.
The AP Challenge School designation recognizes schools with enrollments of 900 or fewer students that administer AP exams in English, mathematics, science, and social studies, with at least 25 AP exams administered overall.
Vidalia High School was also named an AP STEM School. This recognition is awarded to schools that administer at least five AP exams in each of four separate STEM courses in the areas of mathematics, science, and computer science, while administering at least 25 AP exams overall.
In addition to the state recognitions, Vidalia High School earned Bronze Level recognition on the College Board AP School Honor Roll. The Honor Roll recognizes schools for developing an AP program that provides opportunities for students to participate in rigorous college-level coursework and begin their AP journeys earlier in high school.
Together, the three honors highlight the commitment of VHS students to challenging themselves academically and the dedication of teachers who prepare, encourage, and support them along the way.
“These recognitions are a reflection of the work happening in our classrooms every day,” said Steve Freenor, Principal. “Our students are willing to take on challenging coursework, and our teachers continue to set high expectations while giving students the support they need to be successful. We are extremely proud of what they have accomplished.”
Vidalia High School continues to focus on expanding opportunities for students to experience rigorous coursework, prepare for college and careers, and reach their highest potential.
At VHS, excellence in the classroom is more than a goal, it is part of the standard.
